2026 Kia K4 Sportswagon revealed, Australian future unclear

Share

The Kia K4 Sportswagon has been revealed for Europe and the UK, adding a third body style option for the Korean brand’s new global small car.

Measuring 4695mm in length, the K4 Sportswagon is a smidgen shorter than 4710mm-long K4 Sedan on sale in Australia, but 255mm longer than the K4 Hatch that just launched Down Under.

It rides on the same 2720mm wheelbase as its siblings, while boasting a healthy 604 litres of cargo capacity in European specification – nearly 170L more than the hatch, and just under 100L more than the sedan – and is exclusively available with a power tailgate with hands-free operation.

The K4 Sportswagon will be further detailed for Europe and the UK “in due course” ahead of its market arrival, though it will launch with 1.0-litre and 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engines with the option of 48V mild-hybrid technology, just like the Euro-market K4 Hatch.

Further, Kia Europe has promised a “full hybrid” to be added to the K4 Hatch and Sportswagon ranges “later in 2026”.

Just a single image of the new model has been released thus far, though stylistically it’s basically the K4 Hatch with an extended rear overhang like the K4 Sedan.

The wagon retains the K4’s ‘Star Map’ signature lighting motifs and gloss black bumper and wheel arch treatments in the revealed GT-Line specification.

It likewise carries over the K4’s cabin incorporating the latest Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) infotainment with dual 12.3-inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen, in addition to a 5.3-inch digital climate control display.

European and UK model will come standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto across the range, just like Australian models, bolstered by Kia Connect services which also means over-the-air software updates, music streaming and Wi-Fi hotspot capability.

Kia’s European team tout the K4 Sportswagon’s segment-busting packaging, competing with traditional C-segment rivals (i.e. small passenger class) like the Volkswagen Golf, as well as larger D-segment (see medium-sized) competitors.
