Details of the fourth-generation 2026Nissan Navara have appeared on an Australian Government website ahead of the all-new ute’s official global premiere on November 19, 2025.

A federal government certification document has revealed the new D27/NP25-series Navara – which is based on the latest Mitsubishi Triton and will replace the decade-old D23/NP300 Navara – will be released in February. Navara Australia previously proffered only a ‘first half of 2026’ arrival time.

It also reveals at least three model grades will be available – although teaser photos confirm the new lineup will again include key variants such as a Pro-4X flagship, which Nissan has said will again form the basis of another hardcore Australian-developed Warrior version modified by local engineering firm Premcar.

Nissan has also confirmed it will launch the next Navara with diesel engines first – likely to be the same 150kW/470Nm twin-turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder as seen in the Triton, given it will be made on the same production line in Thailand, as part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance.

That will would spell higher outputs than the existing Navara, which is powered by a Nissan-made 140kW/450Nm 2.3-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, or a 120kW/403Nm single-turbo version in the base Navara SL manual.

A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain from Mitsubishi is being considered for the new Navara by Nissan, which is also looking at another dual-cab PHEV ute – the new Frontier Pro offered in China – which would also rival the popular BYD Shark 6, as well as the GWM Cannon Alpha PHEV and Ford Ranger PHEV.

Official teaser images show the new Navara will borrow most of its body panels from the Triton – including its cab, doors, bonnet and front quarter panels – but it should come with a different front-end including a unique bumper, grille, headlights, and daytime running lights, as well as fresh tail-lights.

It’s also expected to share the Triton’s dual-screen dashboard and key equipment inside, while underneath it will ride on the same ladder-frame chassis comprising a leaf-sprung live rear axle to replace the current Navara’s coil-sprung rear-end.
