The current G70 BMW 7 Series has been on sale since 2022, and that means it’s nearly time for a refresh. Spy photographers camped alongside the Nürburgring have spotted the 2027 7 Series LCI (Life Cycle Impulse, or facelift) in the one place no owner will ever take it, and their shots reveal some very subtle changes. While the enormous kidney grilles at the front of the luxury limo will be redesigned slightly, they’ll still dominate the front end, but to help onlookers tell the updated model apart from its predecessor, our spies say the split headlight setup will also be changed, becoming narrower and, hopefully, more elegant. Along with these changes, some small alterations to the front fascia are coming, with the lower intake becoming more rectangular in shape, and the lower side intakes potentially losing their 45-degree faceplates.

The quad-exit exhausts on this prototype indicate that we’re looking at the range-topping M760i variant, and while that part of the big brute won’t be changing much, we see new graphics for the taillights, not too dissimilar from those on the latest G30 5 Series, which may be the most obvious change to the design. Lower down, we expect the rear fascia to be subtly altered, particularly in the diffuser panel area, thus matching the front.

Elsewhere, it appears to be business as usual, with no clear changes to the bodywork in profile. The glasshouse still culminates in an exaggeration of the classic Hofmeister kink, and the door handles remain recessed just below the shoulder line. The interior, however, is where the biggest changes will be evident as the 7 Series falls in line with other new models.
Neue Klasse Influence Infiltrates The 7er’s Cabin

BMW is proud to integrate its latest infotainment technologies into whichever vehicles are next in line for updating or replacement, which is why the Panoramic Vision iDrive with Operating System X, first seen at the Consumer Electronics Show 2025, was presented in production form for the first time in the new iX3, the first Neue Klasse model, not withheld until this 7 Series facelift arrives. Although this G70 is not based on any Neue Klasse platform, Bavaria wants all its cars to feel the same inside, so the facelifted 7 will feature the sweeping full-width display, which our spies have managed to capture despite the vehicle moving at speed along the Nordschleife. We’ll learn more in the new year, but production is only expected to begin in July 2026, so don’t trade in your current 7 Series just yet.
