Heavily revised hatchback gets No8 styling and PHEV powertrain upgrades
With a new name, new styling and a suite of revised powertrains, the new DS No4 is the car the young French brand hopes will help it to increase growth in Europe, with the heavily facelifted hatchback aimed squarely at C-segment rivals from BMW, Mercedes and Audi. DS arrived in the UK in 2021, and since then the DS 4 (as it was previously known) has become its best-selling model. But with just over 2000 sales, the 4 hasn’t been the volume-selling hatchback it had hoped for, and the Citroen spin-off has struggled to capture the attention of UK buyers after the Covid-19 pandemic. Now DS Automobiles is looking to re-establish itself and has earmarked the No4, as well as the recently launched No8 crossover, to lead its charge up the sales charts. DS has even rolled out a new pure-electric version which you can read about here. So, after its latest round of updates, does this swanky-looking hatchback have the credentials to deliver the killer blow to rivals like the BMW 1 Series, Mercedes A-Class and Audi A3? Let’s find out.
