The $7,500 federal EV tax credit may be nearing its end, but some brands are stepping up with their own incentives to keep EVs within reach. While Lucid pays Gravity buyers $7,500 out of its own pocket, Honda isn’t leaving Prologue buyers behind either. Fresh discounts on the 2026 model keep the brand’s electric SUV in the game, while the outgoing 2025 Prologue offers some of the best savings you’ll find on any EV right now.
2026 Prologue Brings $9,000 in Savings

According to Cars Direct, the 2026 Prologue will launch with up to $6,000 off when you lease or finance through Honda Financial Services. Add another $3,000 in conquest or loyalty cash if you’re coming from a rival brand or another leased Honda, and the total discount climbs to $9,000. These offers run through November 3, which means they’ll remain even after the federal EV tax credit disappears on September 30. The only downside? Honda hasn’t added special APR deals or low-rate financing options to sweeten the pot.
The 2025 Prologue Is Still The Smarter Play

As tempting as the 2026 incentives look, leasing a 2025 Prologue is still the better deal. Cars Direct reports that Honda is offering 0% financing for up to 72 months, plus $9,500 in financing bonuses. Stack those with the $7,500 federal tax credit – if you move quickly – and you’re looking at $17,000 in savings. Add conquest cash in select states, and the number jumps to as much as $20,300. With a starting MSRP of $47,400, that’s 42% close to half the sticker price gone. On paper, it’s even more dramatic. Cars Direct also says that financing a $50,000 2025 Prologue over six years works out to about $33,000 before taxes and fees. The same $50,000 on a 2026 model at 7% interest ends up costing just over $54,000. That’s a $21,000 difference between two nearly identical Prologue models.
Should You Wait Or Buy Now?

Right now, the 2025 Prologue costs more than key rivals like the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Kia EV6, and Hyundai Ioniq 5. Honda hasn’t revealed 2026 pricing yet, but to stay competitive, it may need to bring the sticker closer to $40,000 while retaining all its current saving options, too. Until that’s clear, buyers have two choices: lock in a once-in-a-blue-moon deal on the 2025 before the tax credit vanishes, or wait and hope Honda trims the 2026’s price to keep it relevant.
