LaserWeeder G2 NVIDIA GPU-Powered Works with Precision in Weed Control

Share

LaserWeeder G2 plays a big role in farming, to curb the big challenge faced by farmers while controlling weeds. In large acres of land, it could take many hours in the sun to get rid of the weeds; that’s where a new tool powered by Nvidia GPUs comes in to get through one of agriculture’s oldest problems.

Founded by Paul Mikesell, Carbon Robotics has developed a LaserWeeder G2 that spans 20 feet, carrying about 12 modules individually powered by two Nvidia GPUs (24 in total). This computing tech makes the Laser Weeder G2 able to identify and get rid of up to 10,000 weeds per minute using laser rays to burn them completely.

Many plants can have resistance to herbicides in this age, and the G2 will be a game-changer. “There isn’t such a weed that could be laser resistant.” According to Alex Sergeev, chief technology officer of Carbon Robotics.

The Carbon Robotics LaserWeeder G2 can gather data using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The data can range from images captured in the field, which are fed into a custom labeling tool, which the team refers to as the world’s biggest labeled agricultural image data set. Since its start in 2018, Carbon Robotics has been able to ship about 150-plus Laser Weeders to farmers in about 14 countries, and about 30 billion weeds have been eliminated.

The Carbon will be looking at another challenge, which will be looking to curb the global shortage of tractor drivers. We are sure that they will be introducing a fleet of Modern technology Autonomous tractors, which will close the gap resulted from the shortage of tractor drivers.
